Functional Movement Screen

As athletes push their bodies harder and harder to achieve their goals, it’s easy to forget that form depicts our function!

If you want to maximize your workouts while minimizing your risk for injury, you should have a Functional Movement Screen.

We have Licensed Physical Therapy & FMS certified professionals on staff working with several local athletic programs throughout northeast Ohio.

FMS is the screening tool used to identify limitations or asymmetries in seven fundamental movement patterns that are key to functional movement quality in individuals with no current pain complaint or known musculoskeletal injury.

These movement patterns are designed to provide observable performance of basic stabilizing movements by placing an individual in extreme positions where weaknesses and imbalances become noticeable.

If the screen identifies minor limitations with minimal risk of injury, the individual will be given a series of exercises to address specific findings.

They will also receive education on how to maintain optimal movement quality for maximum injury prevention.

If the screen identifies risk of injury >50% (or if pain is present during any part of the screen), the athlete will have the option of a more thorough Physical Therapy evaluation by one of our on-site therapists.

This evaluation will identify cause of limitations (joint mobility dysfunction, tissue extensibility dysfunction, or stability motor control dysfunction).
